Vision, Mission & Strategic Objectives

Vision:
To have an integrated society, free of social inequality, where youth and women from black and ethnic minority communities, including refugees and other vulnerable people are empowered to achieve their through potential.

Mission Statement
‘‘To alleviate social inequality by empowering youth and women from minority ethnic communities and other vulnerable people in the society and promoting social inclusion and cultural integration.

Strategic objectives:

The main objective of Brighter Futures Initiative is to carry on activities which benefit the community and in particular (without limitation) to

  • Empowering women through organised skills acquisition training workshops, motivational speaking and confidence building workshops aimed at equipping them with skills to begin their own businesses and support them in getting back into work.
  • Empowering Youth through Maths, IT and data science skills development, citizenship and leadership skills training and other activities designed to address low self-esteem.
  • Supporting cultural integration through the activities identified above by collaborating with people from other cultural groups on our projects such as: musical performances and drama which cuts across cultures
  • Bridging the gap of none or low participation of Africans and other ethnic minority communities (especially women) in community projects within Scotland through leadership training workshops designed to improve their public speaking, leadership and citizenship skills.
  • Reducing anti-social behaviours among youths in the community by engaging them in positive community development activities
  • Encouraging participation in the arts and entertainment industry among Africans and other ethnic minority groups through the creative writing training workshops and the stage performance activities mentioned above such as drama, dance, music.
  • Supporting participative governance in the community through involving youths in deliberating on contemporary social issues affecting them such as bullying, alcohol and drug abuse, identifying the key causes and how to tackle them.
  • Rewarding good citizenship behaviours in the community to help foster the culture of good citizenship behaviours among youths through our annual Community Youth Leadership award ceremony.
  • Working in collaboration with other organisations who share similar objectives to deliver our projects in order to achieve our vision.
